Problem: Many fight coordinators do not understand motion capture technology from a technical standpoint.
Solution: I mitigate this by having a deep understanding of motion capture technology, including how motion is technically input into the technology from start to finish. This allows me to seamlessly integrate fight choreography into motion capture sessions, ensuring that the movements are captured accurately and effectively for use in various mediums, such as film, television, and video games.
Problem: Balancing realism and safety in fight choreography is challenging.
Solution: To address this, I emphasize thorough rehearsal and communication. I prioritize the safety of performers by breaking down complex moves into manageable parts, ensuring everyone understands the choreography. I also use safety gear and work closely with the stunt coordinator to implement effective safety protocols.
Problem: I don't have a Fight Coordinator who understands continuity.
Solution: I have trained in Script Supervision & Continuity.
Problem: I need someone who understands different roles on set.
Solution: I have worked several roles including, audio, continuity, Directing, and even worked with make up artists and wardrobe. Have padding? What Wardrobe will they be using?
Problem: Meeting audience expectations for visually impressive fight scenes is demanding.
Solution: I tackle this by staying updated on industry trends and continuously refining my skills. I aim to create choreography that not only meets but exceeds audience expectations, focusing on innovative and creative approaches that leave a lasting impact.
Problem: Finding performers with the required training and skill level is challenging.
Solution: I address this by providing training and guidance to actors, helping them develop the necessary skills for fight choreography. I also collaborate with casting to select performers with prior experience or a willingness to learn, ensuring they can execute the choreography safely and convincingly. I work with the casting director!
Problem: Time constraints limit the rehearsal and refinement of fight scenes.
Solution: To overcome this, I plan meticulously and prioritize key elements of the choreography. I focus on efficient communication and use rehearsal time effectively, ensuring that even with limited time, the choreography is well-rehearsed and polished.
Problem: Creating fresh and innovative choreography is challenging.
Solution: I tackle this by drawing inspiration from various sources, including other forms of art and different cultural fighting styles. I also collaborate with the director and creative team to understand the vision for the scene, ensuring that the choreography aligns with the overall narrative and tone of the production.

Solution: I address this by fostering open communication and a collaborative environment. I regularly meet with the director, cinematographer, and other key members of the team to discuss ideas and ensure everyone's input is considered. I also use visual aids, such as storyboards and pre-visualization, to help communicate my vision effectively.

Solution: I approach this by studying the unique requirements of each medium and adapting my choreography accordingly. I also collaborate with experts in the specific medium, such as video game designers or stage directors, to ensure the choreography fits seamlessly into the overall production.
